"I just remembered from listening to this a most wonderfull story long ago which now clicks into place:
Hawaiï: Mauna Loa was erupting again in that slow hawaian style and everyone was evacuated except for this single person who would not go. He just wouldnt. He said I'll stay (and prob. thought: I'll be fine)
So as the lava was pouring down somehow the lava split before that one persons house and his house was unscathed. To my knowledge, he still lives there :D"
